We can’t wait to hear from you and the level of commitment you are interested in (volunteer, chair a subcommittee, artists, sponsorships, etc), please email Amy at arovcc@gmail.com or Carrie at cebumgardner@yahoo.com by March 5.  Time is of the essence and our first meeting is coming up soon.

Artists for Ovaries will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 – location to be determined.

Are you still interested but cannot give a lot of time? That’s okay! If you know an artist that might be interested in donating a piece of art, please contact them or send us their contact information and we will do so on your behalf.

We are a Partner Member with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

Yesterday, they met with Arkansas Representative Tim Griffin’s office to discuss ovarian cancer funding and the impact it would make if he passed to cut funding, thus effectign ovarian cancer research. He asked AROVCC for specific requests and we responded with needed more State support for funding for educational material to distribute. Without the minimal (yet highly needed) funding by the Arkansas Cancer Coalition, we would receive zero support.

Big thank you to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance for gaining access and resources we would not be able to do ourselves.

Arkansas Business has reported that Stage I Diagnostics received $241,336 federal grant to further develop a screening tool for ovarian cancer. Stage I Diagnostics is a biotechnology firm developed by BioVentures, UAMS’ business/research incubator. Dr. Tim O’Brien has helped guide AROVCC in the area of up and coming research of ovarian cancer within Arkansas and has been instrumental in the international search for an early diagnostic test. He is a great jewel to this state.

We are very proud of Stage I’s accomplishment and can’t wait to see the result of their possible new test panel! A link to the Arkansas Business article is here.

Please go to our Donate page to see items on our wish list. We would love for you to donate money to be used to help our organization purchase these much needed items so we can reach more women throughout Arkansas.

Thank you for your support!!
