What is Artists for Ovaries?
Artists for Ovaries (AFO) is AROVCC’s official annual fundraiser. This event features original works of arts from Arkansas artists up for bidding in a silent auction setting. In 2012, we had over 80 works of art submitted, raising $20,000 dollars to support our educational efforts. Since we are a volunteer only organization, all of the funding gained from this event goes straight in to our mission.
Our committee is gearing up for an awesome 2013 and would love more leaders to join us. Our first committee meeting is Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10 am. Email Rashonda if you would like to attend. rashonda@arkansasovariancancer.org
AROVCC’s 5th Survivor’s Luncheon will be held at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, Wednesday, May 29th
Stay tuned for a formal announcement. If you would like to receive a formal invitation, please email you address to Rashonda at rashonda@arkansasovariancancer.org
As we move out of November and into the hustle and bustle of December, we would like to express our sincere thanks to those whose friendships we cherish. Because of you, 2012 has been an incredible year for the Arkansas Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Because of you, we have the ability to continue fighting, educating and prevailing against ovarian cancer. Because of you, women facing ovarian cancer have hope. THANK YOU for everything you do and may the good things in life be yours in abundance throughout the Holiday Season and the coming year.
On this “Giving Tuesday,” we need your support to continue the fight. Please consider supporting the Arkansas Ovarian Cancer Coalition by choosing a gift that is meaningful to you and your loved ones. Make a donation in honor of or in memory of a loved one or someone you appreciate. We will send a tribute card so they will know about your gift.
Please do not miss this opportunity to give courage and a voice to women facing ovarian cancer. Remember, all gifts are tax deductible. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
There are two ways to donate: (1) online via safe and secure PayPal (visit our website, www.arkansasovariancancer.org, and click on the “Donate” link) or (2) mail your donation to Arkansas Ovarian Cancer Coalition, P. O. Box 7796, Little Rock, Arkansas 72217.
Artists for Ovaries is drawing very near and we hope you are making plans to join us. We are really looking forward to all of the great art and themed baskets. There will definitely be something for everyone. When Leah and Amy first dreamed up this crazy idea of art auction we had no idea, four years later, what a successful event this would turn in to. We are looking at sell out, if not, we going to come pretty darn close!
It is important for us to mention those who have made it possible for us to have this event and support ovarian cancer education. First, the Artists whom so selflessly gave their time and talents for us to auction off! Second, to the Artists for Ovaries Committee who have tirelessly volunteered their time. Third, to all those who have purchased tickets, made donations or bought luminaries in memory or honor of a loved one. And last but NOT least, our wonderful sponsors and donors.

The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance has teamed up with the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) on a first-of-its-kind survey to better understand the patient perspective on outcomes from clinical research. This 5 minute innovative survey could help shape future ovarian cancer research and gives all survivors the opportunity to have their say in how drugs are evaluated, approved and covered.
Please take this short survey if you have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The results from the survey will be used to draft a white paper guiding future research on ovarian cancer. It is crucial we hear from as many women as possible!

Consider being a part of a cure for cancer. All it will take is a simple questionnaire and one tube of blood. This is for people who have never had cancer. There are several places in Little Rock to join the study. St. Vincent will be a site to take part in this study. The American Cancer Society hopes that this nation wide effort will be one of the largest research studies ever attempted. Wouldn’t it be exciting to think that you could play a part in finding a cure for cancer?
Below is a pdf of more information or you can visit http://www.cancer.org
The Arkansas Search and Rescue group, Dr. Burnett and the women of Arkansas should be very proud of this study.
See the news articles below regarding search dogs going through trials to sniff out ovarian cancer. Channel 7 first broke this story on Wednesday. big kudos to them for always supporting our cause!
